{"id":70,"date":"2019-03-13T19:26:30","date_gmt":"2019-03-13T19:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.libertymanagement.us\/fda-support\/?p=70"},"modified":"2019-05-01T20:31:13","modified_gmt":"2019-05-01T20:31:13","slug":"export-certificates-for-food-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.libertymanagement.us\/fda-support\/2019\/03\/13\/export-certificates-for-food-products\/","title":{"rendered":"Export Certificates for Food Products"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Firms exporting food products from the United States are\noften asked by foreign customers or foreign governments to supply a certificate\nfrom FDA for products regulated by it providing official assurance that\nproducts exported to their countries can be marketed in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Types of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdahelp.us\/fda_registration\/fda-export-certificate.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">export certificates<\/a> issued by FDA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Certificate to a Foreign Government \u2013 this certificate is available for conventional foods, food additives, food contact substances and infant formula products and states that a product may be marketed in and legally exported from US.<\/li><li>Certificate of Exportability \u2013 this certificate is available for conventional foods, food additives, food contact substances and infant formula products that cannot be marketed in US legally but may be legally exported.<\/li><li>Certificate of Free Sale \u2013 This certificate is only available for dietary supplements, medical foods and special dietary use foods.<\/li><li>Health certificates for collagen and gelatin products intended for export to the EU and Specified risk materials certificates for collagen and gelatin products intended for export to non-EU countries. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FDA will not issue an Export Certificate if <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>FDA has initiated an enforcement action against the product<\/li><li>The manufacturing facility is not cGMP compliant<\/li><li>The manufacturing facility is not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdahelp.us\/fda-food-registration.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"FDA Registered (opens in a new tab)\">FDA Registered<\/a><\/li><li>The manufacturing facility for which FDA has no inspectional information.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The facilities registered and listed with FDA are checked for cGMP compliance under an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda-inspection.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"FDA inspection (opens in a new tab)\">FDA inspection<\/a>. For Export Certificates, FDA would use inspection and all other available information regarding a product or facility to make an attestation of compliance with cGMP regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FDA fee for \u201cCertificate to Foreign Government\u201d and \u201cCertificate\nof Exportability\u201d is, $ 175 for 1st certificate, $ 155 for 2nd certificate and $\n100 for each subsequent certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FDA does not charge a fee for \u201cCertificates of Free Sale\u201d or\nfor \u201cHealth Certificates\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some foreign governments may question authenticity of an\nexport certificate. There are two ways to authenticate an export certificate: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The exporter can request an apostille or\nauthentication from the U.S. Department of State, or<\/li><li>For electronically issued certificates issued\nafter April 2016, an official of a foreign government can use the unique\nCertificate ID, printed in the top left corner of every certificate, to\nindependently verify whether the export certificate was issued by FDA.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Liberty Management Group LTD<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>\u00a0 is one of the leading FDA consulting group in the USA.
